Interesting Fact #14

Interesting Fact #14 (about ME): I name my plants. This is not a secret and most of you probably already know this.

Above is one of my plants at work. His name is SPIKE. When I first adopted SPIKE he was just barely poking above his home. Now look at him! SPIKE is a giant!

FYI #1 The plant next to SPIKE is named DEAN. I received both of them in a planter when DEAN passed away.

FYI #2 I love plants and I love them more when they have names!

FYI #3 Someone once told me that I have awful taste when picking names for my plants. That person was wrong and basically and idiot. I love my plant names.

Just in Case

Just in case you didn't know...I have a freckle on my finger.

And I like it.

A lot.

It's just one unique thing about me.

Just in case you didn't know...

A Girl Can Dream...Can't She?

As I paid my tuition this semester, or rather saw my student loan double so I could pay my tuition this semester, I starting thinking about what I could to not have to take out loans to pay for school.

I am really stressed out about getting into more debt. REALLY STRESSED OUT.

Option 1:

Have some mysterious person offer to pay for my tuition, not strings attached (including my current student loan).

possibility: HIGHLY unlikely

Option 2:

Find a new job that pays more towards tuition than my current job. Down side: I like my job.

possibility: unlikely, since most companies have a waiting period before they pay tuition (say 6 months) plus add the time it takes to find a new job (say 6 months) and then I only have one more semester left.

Option 3: (BEST IDEA YET)

Marry a person who works for the my school then my tuition instantly gets cut in half! I would take a 50% reduction in a heartbeat. But who could I marry? I would even just marry them in name only (total SHAM wedding) and then we could divorce in October 2011. Great plan huh! I think so.

possibility: never gonna happen. I know this is unethical and maybe morally wrong. But what if I just happened to meet someone this semester (who worked for my schoo), fell in love, and got married BEFORE the next semester started. AWESOME!

Hey, a girl can dream can't she?

(((Opinion Poll))) - New Bedroom Colors

So, I am thinking of changing the colors of my room. I love the colors in the above pille (and I love style of the pillow.) Anyway, I am thinking fall-ish colors. Also, add in a gold-ish brown-ish yellow. I need opinions!

*if you want to get this pillow yourself, check out Pottery Barn. It's the "anne marie" bedding collection.

11:11

Do you ever make wishes? Wishes before you blow out the birthday candles, wishes on shooting stars, wishes on eyelashes?

I like to wish. Most of them are stupid wishes. I am not a great "on the spur of the moment" wisher. If I had a couple of days to think about the wish I think they would be much better. Most wishes for me are spur of the moment. I forget about the birthday wishes until right before I have to blow out the candles.

A friend of mince makes the wish when he notices the clock is at 11:11. It seems that at least every two weeks I a lucky enough to see the clock when it is at 11:11...and I can't help myself...I must make a wish.

If you are lucky enough to make an 11:11 wish...just do it.

Here are the rules (completely stolen from TRuss's blog) of the 11:11 wish:

"11:11. Now this is a particularly tricky one that I have attached a few personal rules to. It simply cannot be premeditated. You cannot wait and watch for the clock to turn 11:11 so you can get your wish in. You cannot realize it is close to the time and look at the clock every 20 seconds until it turns 11:11. The 11:11 wish, whether spoken or thought, must also be completed while the clock still reads 11:11 to be considered valid (you never know quite how much of the minute you have left because you have just caught the clock reading 11:11, so this is a rapid fire wish).

The cardinal rule: You cannot share the wish you make with anyone or it will not come true."

I have added one more rule: You can make as many wishes as you want before the clock turns 11:11. So for those of us who aren't great on the spot wishers...we can get a few extra's in to cover our bases.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Ugly: My computer got a virus.

The Bad: I have been computer-less for just over a week now. (This really hasn't been that bad)

The Good: My brother-in-law is fixing my computer and realized I haven't ever been able to access 30% of my memory. (We can talk off-line about the reason). He is going to wipe the computer clean and re-load everything...which means no virus and more memory!!!

Let's me just give a small shout out to Marc who puts up with all of us who get one ore more virus and also those of us who are or just choose to be technologically unsavvy. He really is very paitient and kind to help us out.

Did Not Expect To Say This...

I was chatting with my roommates and my friend Heather. I told them I was really excited for church on Sunday because it is Ward Conference. I think they were a little taken aback and asked what "big thing" would be happening. Nothing big is happening...at least that I know about. I am just super excited for Ward Conference.

Is that lame? Seriously?

I am just really excited for it. So, sue me.

Wordle

So my friend did this on their blog and I loved it! You go to www.wordle.net and type in your own words, or you can type in a web address (i.e your blog address) creates a word picture for you. The bigger the word in the picture the more frequently it appears on your blog.

The big words in my picture gave me a lot to think about. Obviously there have been a lot of things on my mind lately.

Right this minute
...I feel very blessed.
...I am sitting at my computer half dressed, not really unusual.
...I wish I could scream in your face "I AM NOT THAT PERSON AND NEVER HAVE BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE."
...Iam super excited for the talent show on Friday...it's going to be fabulous!
...Iam shivering, maybe I should put on some clothes.
...just purchased "1, 2, 3, 4" by Plain White T's and "Busy Being Fabulous" by The Eagles.
...I am thinking "Busy Being Fabulous" should be my theme song for a while.
...wish I could tell you that you are not funny, you are making me feel bad, and I wish you would think before you speak.
...I wish I was brave enough to go through with it, and not only it...but so many things.
...I wish I was back in China with "the circle". Life was easy and fun and glittery.
...I am going to pay bills.
...I am resolved to not let it bother me again without saying something.

Disney Monopoly

Sunday night my roommates are spending quality time together. I accidentally knock the money tray on the floor and Disney dollars go everywhere. The banker (Tricky Nicky) says the following:

"If anyone pockets any of the money while we are picking it up you will have to go directly to jail. Wait, You will have to go to jail with DUMBO and you know what he is like!"

We laughed and laughed. Who knew Disney Monopoly could be so funny.

I guess you had to be there.

Playing At Work

Remember that one blog I wrote about HATING plastic covered paper clips? Well, I was out of the office one day and what do I come back too?

PLASTIC COVERED PAPER CLIPS hidden ALL over my desk. On my chair, in my papers, taped to bins, inside of drawers, on my can of soup, behind things hung on the wall. Pretty much everywhere.

And who would do such a thing???
THIS GUY.
Chay.
My arch nemisis and BFF at work. I have to admit he is pretty fun MOST OF THE time to keep us all entertained.

I took me days to find all the paper clips. With the last one being found on August 6th. Every time I find one I shake my fist and then silently laugh.

But now, I have all these paper clips just hiding in my desk and waiting.Seeing them gives me inspiration in thinking up a new prank for CHAY.

Although the best thing you can do to him is stare at him. Too bad he doesn't sit by me anymore. I would stare at him for 10 minutes everyday. It freaks him right out of town and he has to get up and leave his desk. I know because I did it once and it made me laugh so hard.

(p.s. I finally learned how to use some things on my camera and took all these pictures and the pictures of the Afrikan coins. I love the MACRO setting. Thanks Megs.)

One question: ultra-fantasti-fabulous OR how about ultra-fabu-lame? Also, please feel free to tell me why you feel this way?

Things That Must Go - Mostly Boy Habits

So two things I noticed today that I just need to get out there...

a. An employee (male employee) came into sign some paperwork. I was walking to security to meet with the employee and noticed I could smell cologne in the hallway...20 feet from the security desk. Yep, you guessed it. The person was wearing so much cologne that the smell carried 20 feet down the hall. My eyes started watering and were burning by the end of the encounter.

This too much cologne wearing business must stop. Seriously, if I can smell the cologne even from 4 feet away you are wearing too much. That is just my opinion. STOP IT.

2. By the way, the sound of someone clipping their nails at work grosses me out. One nail in an emergency...okay, but all of your nails? Seriously. Please clip your nails at home. If you are unable to accomplish this SIMPLE and QUICK grooming habit at home, then maybe you should clip your nails in your car. Or on the way into work, or in the stall in the bathroom, or at least somewhere else so I don't hear it.

The end.

Things That Must Go - Plastic Covered Paper Clips

You think I'm joking but I'm not. I seriously dislike plastic covered paper clips. I am not sure what it is about them that is annoying, but I am betting it is the texture of the plastic.

Every time I get papers held together with a plastic covered paperclip, I MUST throw the paper clip away and replace it with a nice shiny mental one. I MUST.

So, now you are thinking I am wasteful, throwing a perfectly good paper clip away. Well it's not a good paper clip. It is bad and I hate them. So there.

If you give me papers with the wrong paper clip, you have been warned, they will come back to you with a different paper clip.

Laugh Out Loud

Below are two pictures that recently made me laugh out loud. The first was sent to me by JL. He took this at a baseball game. Can you see why he sent it?

Chay forwarded me the below picture. Who wouldn't love to throw a slurpee in some jerks face?

Did You Notice The Eyes?

I was looking at some pictures the other day and I came across this one. I may have lingered a bit...but I am seriously, super HOT in this picture. Then I noticed my eyes.

RANDOM FACT: Up until a week ago, I didn't really know what color my eyes were. Are they HAZEL, Blue, Green, the color of POO? I didn't really know. I always said Hazel...I don't really know why. Lots of people have given different answers when they tell me what color eyes I have.
I now declare to the whole world. I have GREEN eyes, with a streak or two of BROWN.

Another RANDOM FACT: Today, is the first day I could tell you the color of my parents EYES.
Ardells are blue.
Dean's are green/brown.

This got me thinking about what other color of eyes there are in my family. Today, we had our monthly family dinner, what a perfect opportunity to get pictures of their EYES! (Some who were not in attendance had their eyes stolen from other pictures.)
My big Brother Joe. I would say green with some brown.
Liberty, dark blue.
Big Dave the KoREAN, brown.
Hunter Grunter, dark blue.
Fuzzy, dark blue.
Suzan, brown with black pupils.
Elizabeth, blue. In fact the same color as our mom's.
Shannon, blue.
Inez, green.
Andrew, blue.
Megs, blue, green, and brown.
Brayden, brown. Although today he got a black eye...so now there will be a nice black, blue, purple, and yellow bruise around his eye.
Jules, light blue with a dark blue ring.

It is amazing that my family just let's me take random pictures of them. When I asked my mom she just took of her glasses and sat there. I think she has learned it is easier not to argue. Dean was confused and told me "he didn't know what I was up too."

There are lots of sayings about eyes. That someone's eyes are the gateway to their soul, that you can tell if someone is lying by their eyes, or that our emotions are displayed in our eyes. I am undecided if I believe any or all of the above statements. Although, I think it is interesting that when I look at the top picture of whole face I would describe my attitude and feelings completely different then I would of the cropped picture of just my eyes. Just something for me to think about.

What's In A Name - Part 2

I am not a nickname person. I don't usually call people by a nickname or give them nicknames (exception is Big Dave the Korean, but I don't call him that, I just call him David...usually). I think it all started when I was little and they had this show called "Little House On The Prarie." Everyone called me Nellie, EVERYONE. Certificates from primary and my savings account were in the name Nellie. That was until I would get teased that I was as horrible as Nelly Olsen from "Little House...". She was so mean and I was so nice and didn't want to be associated with such a horrible person...so...I transitioned myself to D'Nell. I think this took place in 1st, 2nd, maybe 3rd grade. I don't really remember I was really young, but I hated when people called me Nellie and was a little snotty to them...and still am a little bit.

I think from that experience I just stopped liking nicknames, they were associated with "mean teasing" and I didn't like it. However, I am happy to report that Young Womens, some friends from High School, my stay in China and subsequent years living in Logan have got me somewhat over this...and some nicknames...by some people are okay and I even like it.

Nicknames I have had or currently have:

DaNarla (hockey name, so the hockey players won't know who is screaming mean things/profanities at them)
Narla
Nelly Furtado
Salami Head
Nellie (if you call me this, I am likely to hate you forever or kick your ...)
(Unless you are my niece or nephew)
Smellie Nellie (I wouldn't try calling me this one either.)
D'Nellie
Boron
D'Nellieeee
Delia (I know, this is my name...and also a nickname...long story)
(not everyone gets to call me this either...if you try it...I might dislike your for a couple of days)
Dill Pickle
Pickle
Buck Wheat
DJ Dirty Nellie (the story behind this is confidential. You must achieve friendship level "Midnight" to hear the story)
(Family is excluded from hearing the story)
(You may have heard the story by other friends who were once friendship level "Midnight" but have since been downgraded to indifference level "D")
(If you hear this story and repeat it and I find out...I may instantly and without warning downgrade your friendship status)
(***This may be the best/funniest story you are likely to hear***)
Dirty Nellie (see above)

Things That Must Go - Gross Out

SPITTING.
I hate it.
It sounds so disgusting and looks even worse.
Every time I hear or see someone spit it makes me want to throw up.
By the way, spitting on the sidewalk is just plain RUDE.
People have to walk there.
We are not in China...and it was gross there too.
Disgusting.
yuck.

If you need to spit...
do it in the privacy of your own bathroom...
with the water running so no one can hear you.
SICKO.
