Things That Must Go - Gross Out
SPITTING.
I hate it.
It sounds so disgusting and looks even worse.
Every time I hear or see someone spit it makes me want to throw up.
By the way, spitting on the sidewalk is just plain RUDE.
People have to walk there.
We are not in China...and it was gross there too.
Disgusting.
yuck.
If you need to spit...
do it in the privacy of your own bathroom...
with the water running so no one can hear you.
SICKO.

Community Emergency Response Team
For the last 6 months I have been working on getting my emergency preparedness stuff together. Food storage, savings, etc. When I heard that my stake would be offering a C.E.R.T. class...and you get a free helmet, I signed up! I have only gone to 2 of he 8 classes and so far it has been AWESOME! Tonight we got our C.E.R.T. bags (see picture above) and we got to put out a fire with a fire extinguisher. I am totally prepared....for small fires.*If I smiled the goggles cut into my cheeks.
**I am making the sign of our team: Single Savers.
These are some of my fun friends that are taking the class with me. Erin, Sarah, and Heather. I will post a group picture later.Question: Who wouldn't want us to be there emergency responders? We are fun, dedicated, and FUNNY!

The Universe Is Working Against Me
Does it ever feel like the days leading up to going on a VACATION are just completely crazy!?!
I am leaving Thursday morning for Vegas to celebrate my niece Megan's 21st birthday (and while there I will also turn the DREADED 30). Today, Tomorrow, and Wednesday I have 5 million things to do in preparation for being gone.
I think the universe says "Hmmm going on vacation, trying to take a little break? Hmmm. I think to make the vacations mush more enjoyable I will make sure everyone who needs something will call and demand it in the days leading up to you leaving. Also, just for kicks, work will be busy, and if that isn't enough there will be events you need to attend each night leading up to leaving so you have only 30 minutes to pack. Have FUN and now you really will need a vacation. Love, the Universe."
This is what I have to say about that...YOU'RE LAME!

Love It
Many of you are unaware I have a new church calling (JL you can stop reading now if you would like), I am the Enrichment Counselor in the Relief Society. I know...I am not very enriching...but I am excited anyway. Last night we did our first visits as a presidency. Haylee had the thought and I LOVED it...so I thought I would share. I would love to hear your thoughts about this quote, so please leave a comment.
"Our Father in Heaven needs us as we are, as we are growing to become. He has intentionally made us different from one another so that even with our imperfections we can fulfill His purposes. My greatest misery comes when I feel I have to fit what others are doing, or what I think others expect of me. I am most happy when I am comfortable being me and trying to do what my Father in Heaven and I expect me to be. For many years I tried to measure the oft times quiet, reflective, thoughtful Pat Holland against the robust, bubbly, talkative, and energetic Jeff Holland and others with like qualities. I have learned through several fatiguing failures that you can't have joy in being bubbly if you are not a bubbly person...I have given up seeing myself as a flawed person because my energy level is lower than Jeff's, and I don't talk as much as he does. Nor as fast.
Giving this up has freed me to embrace an rejoice in my own manner and personality in the measure of my creation...Somewhere, somehow the Lord blipped the message onto my screen that my personality was created to fit precisely the mission and talents He gave me...The moment I indulge in imitation of my neighbor, I feel fractured and fatigued and find myself forever swimming upstream. When we frustrate God's plan for us, we deprive this world and God's kingdom of our unique contributions, and a serious schism settles in our soul. God never gave us any task beyod our ability to accomplish it. We just have to be willing to do it our own way. We will always have enough resources for being who we are and what we become." (Patricia Holland, LDS Women's Treasury: Insights and Inspiration for Today's Woman P. 104)
Sometimes I feel like I need to be more like person A because they do such and such, and that I am less of a person or not awesome because I can't do "blah" like this person. I need to remember that I have been given many talents and need to work on developing myself and not worry about trying to be a carbon copy of someone else.

Taxes

I know the point of taxes is to work it so you don't have to pay anything and you don't get anything back. This is something I try to do each year. HOWEVER, I secretly like that I am horrible at figuring this out because I just got $800 from tax returns deposited into my savings account.
It is always a good day when you see a large sum deposited in your account.
Happy Tax Season!
