This last weekend I went on to a "Rendezvous" with my ward. The theme was "The Power of Balance". I must have gone with an open heart and mind...or just been deprived lately, because I came away with some amazing ideas to mull around. I will explore more of these ideas here publicly and also privately...but the one I want to start with is this...
We had a concert Thursday night with Sam Payne (AMAZING, I love scatting), Ryan Shupe, and Ryan Tilby. One of the songs they sang had this line:
"When you dream, dream big. Because sometimes dreams come true."
I have been thinking of my dreams lately so this line struck my particularly hard. It is making my think about my dreams and are they big or small? Are they want I REALLY want or just what I think I can achieve or what will be easy to achieve? Who doesn't deserve to have their biggest dreams come true?
One of my dreams, aspirations, or whatever you want to call it: When I have children of my own I would like to be financially situated so that we can spend some or all of the summers doing humanitarian service along with vacationing in other states and countries. I would love my life long job to be a volunteer, and I would love to do it with my future husband and children. I can almost see summers spent working in an orphanage in South America, or teaching English in China, building a school in Africa, or even working to build/repair homes in the United States. I love the world and have a strong desire to learn more about the people that live here and would like to have the opportunity to do this with my future family. What a better way to learn about a culture than by serving the people? The key is me starting to work on this now...so that I have a good chance of achieving this dream, and the many other dreams I have.
So, what are your biggest dreams?

I dream of having dreams again- meaning that I get a full nights sleep without being interrupted by crying children. Long term goals I think that I have to think on some more- more children (at least one more) is one of them!
Small world- how do you like Alaina? I had a blast with her as a roommate at Ricks. She is a BIG bundle of energy! What does she do in your ward?
I'm kind of leaning towards your dream. Traveling to different places, doing some sort of service. Missions fit in that category! :)
Don't wait to have a family - do it now! I want to take my children on "vacation" to do service around the world if not every year, then at least every other year. But... since I have a two-year-old, I realize that it will be a few years before it's possible simply because they won't be old enough. So, my advice to you is do it now!
My dreams consist of traveling. I have been so blessed to have been to quite a few places already but I miss it. I miss the adventure and seeing and experiencing new things. I miss having my horizon broadened because of other cultures and other people! I also dream of being a good mommy and teaching my kids well.
Great to see you again!! I like you blog! :)
Why did you let me leave the room looking like THAT!?!?! Crazy Americans!!!
