Enjoying the Journey

I am on a path.
What path you ask?
The path to becoming a Domestic Goddess!

Saturday I went to my mom's house to help her clean and organize a bit. My sister Inez was there...as she is a lot quilting on my mom's quilting machine. She has taken after my mom is this respect and made some amazingly beautiful quilts. After we were done cleaning my mom helped me make the dough for empanadas (South American meat pies...very tasty). Now, I have made empanada dough with out Ardell's help...but something is wrong with the water in the recipe...and she makes it perfect every time...so I like it when she does makes the dough.

My mom left to go party with her high school friends, and I was left rolling out the dough and filling them all by myself. After several hours of working on this, I just needed some help. Inez came in and rolled the dough for me. I remarked that she was so fast and efficient. Her reply: "That is because I am a Domestic Goddess!" How true.

From age 19-23 I was the secretary in the Primary Presidency. I worked with amazing women, and we still are close friends today. Saturday night we has a Cinco De Mayo party. They made the best food! Linda decorated her house and made fried ice cream! Wow! These women are amazing...Domestic Goddesses!

I want to be a Domestic Goddess too! I know this doesn't happen overnight...but I am going to venture down this path...and one day, if I work at it...I will hold this title, and you will all be invited over for dinner.

I have been working on being a Domestic Hero since I was about 20 and my cousins and I donned the "domestic hero wigs". So far I have not quite acheived it. In fact, I think I've gone backwards. I think I knew more about cooking, cleaning, and taking care of kids when I was 11. Sheesh. Linda and Melissa are true domestic goddesses! And so is my mom! And your mom! Why can't we just be more like our moms?

Carrie...remember Amy's theory that you become creative when you are married? Maybe there is a something silmilar to becoming a domestic goddess...maybe you become one at a certain age...hmmm....
