This I Believe: Stand Up and Be Counted

I believe I am surrounded by exceptional people.
I believe that they aren't in my life by chance.
I believe I have much to learn.
I believe that I am strengthened by how often those people I hold dear stand strong and are vocal about what they hold true.
I believe that the above mentioned people will be great leaders.
I believe that there can no longer be any "gray" areas. That the time is gone for "fence sitters".
I believe that one of the hardest trials we face will come from learning how to have "charity" while still standing up for what we believe.
I believe in the Atonement of Jesus Christ and it's POWER to help me overcome all doubts, sins, fears, and trials.
I believe that I am afraid of offending when I don't mean too and it curbs my true thoughts too often.
I believe that you should act, live, and speak what you believe all the time.
I believe I am surrounded by extraordinary people.

*I have been so impressed with one person in particular who writes on her blog exactly what she believes. She stands up and is counted. Her passion is inspiring. We need more passion like hers and less fence sitting. Although, I don't always agree with her points I like to read and bounce her opinions off mine (all in my head of course). Here is to more ffff (fight for freedom fridays) and other posts she writes with such passion.

Wow. Well said. I wish you would have included the link to your friends blog. I would have liked to read the post that inspired you.

One sentence really jumped out at me.

"I believe that one of the hardest trials we face will come from learning how to have "charity" while still standing up for what we believe."

During the whole Prop 8 thing here in California Kris and I had many late night talks about the Gospel and the state of the World. This was one theme that kept coming up in our talks because it was so applicable to our lives at the moment. It was really hard to feel charity when people were being SO hurtful and vindictive.

I agree, I agree, I agree with everything you said, especially that one.

You don't always agree with me??? LOL-

D'nell this post was POWERFUL.

You said how I feel so perfectly.

"The time is gone for fence sitters." The time is gone.

Although, believe it or not, I too am afraid of offending people- mainly because I don't know the whole story sometimes and even the truth can hurt a sensitive soul...so I am slowly learning that sometimes people just need love...and like you said- Charity is most important.

But I do feel the time is soon that our beliefs will be questioned and belittled by MANY. Our morals and values have been easy to claim for a long time- but I feel things are going to change...and the persecution will increase.

anyway- thank you for sharing with us what you believe...and yes- CHARITY while standing up for what believe. That will be a struggle for all of us who are trying to protect those things most precious to us.

You never know who is going to read our words. You just have to keep sticking it out there- letting ourselves be heard.
