Split Personality - Part II

So there is a "situation" in my personal life that is rather comical to me but also causing me stress. I was chatting to my WORK friend Chay about it. (by the way if you are privvy to the "SITUATION" please don't give any specifics when leaving a comment...you never know who reads these things!).

chaY proceeds to tell me the following:

1. If "work D'Nell" were handling this it would be all worked out with a plan by now.
2. I like having power over "outside D'Nell". I can boss her around, but "Work D'Nell" never lets me do that.
3. When "Work D'Nell" leaves work her "Alpha-Female cloak" comes off and she is no longer in charge.

I told him that I don't have a split personality I am the same everywhere. So he sends me this interchange that reminds him of me...

"You have no idea of the magnitude of this thing. If she is allowed to infiltrate this world then George Costanza as you know him ceases to exist. You see, right now I have Relationship George. But there is also Independent George. That's the George you know, the George you grew up with... Movie George, Coffee Shop George, Liar George, Bawdy George."

"I love that George."

"Me too, and he's dying. If Relationship George walks through this door, he will kill Independent George. A George divided against itself cannot stand!"

- SEINFELD: George and Jerry, in "The Pool Guy"

**for some reason CHAY is freaking out about this today***

So, let me pose these questions to you...

a. Do you think I have a "split-personality"?
B. Does everyone have a "SPLIT-personality"?
3. Who wants to throw things at Chay?

Sounds like "Work D'Nell" wrote this blog.

and yes,

You have a split personality....(not a bad thing)... I met "Outside of Work D'Nell" about 2 hours ago and she is much different...almost opposite of "Work D'Nell." I think the only thing they have in common is that they share the same body.

you know what is crazy? I think Chay has a split personality just sitting here and reading this-

he only talks about 4 wheelers and their parts around me- this surpises me to hear Chay be so...observant and funny- well he is funny I know- but I guess "work chay" is funnier than "out of work Chay"

I think you should throw things at Chay

I'm gonna play Switzerland here, because I can see both sides- but I'm not going to choose on over the other.

I think you are more confident in your job because you know exactly what you are doing. In real life, none of us knows exactly what we are doing, and if we think we know, then we're in for a big surprise.

I think everyone has split personality. I think you feel and act differently in different situations. I feel like I had "work personality" when I worked.

Hey Dill,
I was excited to hear from you. I'll add you to my blog and keep in touch. And no to split personalities. At least in the freaky way. Situations and people bring out different qualities and quirks in everyone.

There is an interesting psych. theory that talks about masks and the different masks we all wear. Each of us has a mask for work, for home, for play, for our spouse, partner or lover or boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.. Some of the masks may look completely different and others may look very similar with minute differences. I know it to be true that D'nell's work mask and D'nell's JL friend mask are completely different... but it is still D'nell wearing the mask... and I love her still the same. So, split personalities... nah... a different mask... sure... but worn by the same person. ~jl

I agree April, not everyone gets sarcasm...you don't deserve the bad wife award, just the opposite.
